Is your house bustling like mine? We hosted our first-of-the-season Christmas party. I had a wonderful time celebrating the Christmas with the ladies of my new church. We gathered together and ate food and more sweets than all of us really needed. We listened to scripture and reflected on the true meaning of Christmas. And of course, we played one of those crazy gift exchange games and chit-chatted the night away. Friendship is a gift that God has given us. I am grateful for my new friends and so grateful for so many wonderful women in my life who, over the years, have shared their lives, laughter, and hot beverages with me.
I love my friends who I only see on occasion.
I love my friends who are there with me in hard times.
I love my friends that share life in the trenches of ministry with me.
I love my friends who are always willing to do crazy things with me.
I love my friends who tolerate and pray for my dark side.
I love my friends who tell me my zipper is down, I have something in my teeth, or my makeup is lopsided.
I love my friends who share their tears with me.
I love my friends who laugh with me and not at me.
Christmas is a great time to kindle new friendships and stoke the fire of friendships from long ago. Friends are like lights on a Christmas tree. A few lights are nice, but a whole bunch of twinkling beauties makes you stop in your tracks and say, “Oooooooo and ahhhhhhh!”
Thank you Lord, for great friends!

The Three Things You are Doing Well and Must Keep Doing
Write early, write often, and write well. That’s the plan. What does it mean?
Write Early… means you don’t neglect writing instruction just because your child is young. You prepare your child for a great future as a competent, confident writer. It means you honor the dictation level when your child is unable to hold a pencil. It means you introduce the steps of the writing process and show your young author how to apply it to all different types of writing genres.
Write Often…. means, in small kid-size bites, you place the subject of writing in its rightful place with the other core subjects. It means that you don’t take breaks but develop writing habits that will serve your child well no matter what profession he/she chooses. It means you lead your child through the writing process for every writing project.
Write Well… means you know if your child writes early and often, your child will master how to write well. It means that you will watch. You will cheer. You will patiently correct. It means that you get a front row seat to see your young author develop as a young writer.
Write early, write often, write well means you engage in all of Here to Help Learning’s 31 Writing Projects. It means you don’t skip any project. It means you complete six projects a year and don’t give up!
These are three things you are doing well and must keep doing!
If you are a new or returning HTHL Mentor/Teacher, take time to refresh yourself on the detailed steps of the writing process. See teacher’s notes in your HTHL Teacher’s Guide. (Online users: Found under the Resources Tab)

“What’s a homeschool mom to do? I tried different curriculums. I tried assigning some of the more popular assignments that I used when I taught in the public school classroom. I tried allowing them to dictate their assignments to me. I tried breaking the assignments down into very small pieces, showing them how to do each one. Nothing worked well, or any positive effects didn’t last long. Here to Help Learning is a great addition to our homeschool curriculum, and it is definitely helping my children to develop an excitement about writing.”-Jennifer J.
