Thanksgiving Writing Projects

November 17, 2017

I’m thankful for a lot of things this year. My grateful list is long. Although I have many blessings to be thankful for, I am also thankful for the challenging events that have helped me walk closer with the Lord and stay in His throne room of prayer longer:

My brother’s cancer.

My sister-in-love’s cancer.

My sister’s home destroyed in a fire.

Family relationships strained due to poor life choices.

Life is never perfect here on sin-damaged Earth. Our very being cries out for a restored place to live. Heaven is our real home after our work here on Earth is done.

Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to reveal the absence of the Garden of Eden paradise in our lives. What was suppose to be is not. However, we can focus on paradise displaced, or we can focus on God’s story from Genesis to Revelation that He and He alone has extended His mercy toward us through every poor choice, tragic event, and misfortune. Throughout the dawn of time, He has continually made way for redemption to occur. He has parted the raging waters and given us a dry path to walk.

What are you struggling with dear sister? What keeps your mind distracted and weighted? Why not take a moment and thank God for the troubled event? Why not be thankful for this year’s dark moments.

“Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace].  And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4

Thanking God for the trials of your life is not celebrated on Hallmark cards or Pinterest boards. Perhaps it should. I think it would give our children a more realistic view of how to do life. A mom who bows her head and thanks God during trials rather than frets is a testimony that her children will remember forever.

What does Cathy Duffy say about Here to Help Learning?

“Here to Help Learning’s Writing Program is perfect for the family or group class in need of an enthusiastic instructor. The courses are very easy-to-use and enjoyable for both students and adults. They also make it possible to teach children together if they are within a few grade levels of one another. The Christian aspects of the course—memory verses, mentions of faith and God throughout the courses, and activities that stress Christianity in action—are more thoroughly and effectively integrated than in most other Christian writing courses.”Cathy Duffy (Curriculum Review)

ALL NEW Writing Warm-Up Pics just for you!

Children have amazing imaginations and an innate ability to play with words. At HTHL, we think that’s an asset when learning how to write. Our funny writing warm-up pics are an excellent way to spark your child’s imagination and help them enjoy the art of communicating with the written word. Writing warm-up pics are used throughout HTHL’s six-year writing program. But of course, kids want more, and that makes Team HTHL happy!  This week, we added lots more pics for your children to enjoy.

Are you a HTHL online member? Click on Writing Warm-up Gallery (found under the resource tab on your toolbar)
